A Season of Readings, Workshops, & Living Matters to take place in the Future Garden
Installment no. 7:
Bertolt Brecht's Garden in Progress
~
Living in exile in Los Angeles during the 1940s, Bertolt Brecht maps his new physical surroundings as well as his emigrant experience through his poetry. Across the urban landscapes of Brecht’s stanzas, gardens are everywhere. As both concrete and metaphorical sites, the gardens’ ubiquitous presence in the poems mirrors LA’s urban fabric.
Join Simona Ferrari as she features eight of Brecht's LA poems, read by Benno Herz in their original German version and by Cleo Abramian in their English translation.
